[Overview] This herb is also known as Siyadan and Jinglang. It is the mature seed of Nigella glandulifera Freyn, a plant of the Ranunculaceae family. It is mainly produced in Xinjiang. The mature fruits are harvested in autumn, cleaned of mud and pericarp, and sun-dried.
[Properties] Taste: sweet and pungent; nature: warm. Enters the Liver and Kidney meridians.
[Actions] Tonifies the Kidney and strengthens the brain; regulates menstruation and promotes lactation; promotes urination.
[Applications]
1. Used for dizziness, tinnitus, forgetfulness, and premature graying of hair.
2. Used for irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, and insufficient lactation.
3. Used for chest tightness and asthma, edema, hot painful urinary dribbling (re lin), and stone painful urinary dribbling (shi lin).
