[Overview] This herb is also known as Zhujie Xiangfu and Caowu Hui. It is the rhizome of Anemone raddeana Regel, a plant of the Ranunculaceae family. It is mainly produced in Shandong, Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang provinces. It is harvested in summer by digging up, removing the fibrous roots, washing clean, and drying in the sun.
[Properties] Pungent in taste, hot in nature, and toxic. Enters the Spleen meridian.
[Actions] Dispel wind-dampness, reduce swelling and abscesses.
[Applications]
1. Used for wind-cold-damp bi syndrome, limb spasms, and joint pain. This herb is especially suitable for cold-dominant painful bi syndrome and can be combined with Aconitum (Wutou), Saposhnikovia (Fangfeng), and Pine Knot (Songjie). For lumbar and leg pain and limb spasms, it can be combined with Achyranthes bidentata (Niuxi), Clematis (Weilingxian), and Spatholobus (Jixueteng).
2. Used for abscesses and ulcerations, often combined with Lonicera japonica (Yinhua), wild chrysanthemum (Yejuhua), Viola yedoensis (Zihuadiding), and Taraxacum (Pugongying).
