[Overview] This herb is also known as Jijima, Hongma, Zeqima, and Xiaohua Luobuma. It is the leaf of Apocynum venetum L., a plant of the Apocynaceae family. It is mainly produced in Liaoning, Jilin, Inner Mongolia, Anhui, Shaanxi, and other regions. Harvested in summer, impurities are removed and then dried in the sun.

[Properties] Taste: sweet and bitter; nature: cool.

[Actions] Calms the liver and pacifies the mind; clears heat and promotes urination.

[Applications]
1. Used for headache, dizziness, palpitations, insomnia caused by liver yang rising; can be infused in water as a tea or decocted for oral administration; also used in combination with Prunella vulgaris (Xiakucao), Chrysanthemum (Juhua), and Uncaria (Gouteng). Currently commonly used to treat hypertension and neurasthenia with good efficacy.
2. Used for damp-heat edema and difficulty urinating; can be combined with Polyporus (Zhuling), Alisma (Zexie), and Akebia (Mutong). Commonly used to treat nephritis-related edema.
Additionally, Luobuma leaf decoction or infusion can prevent and treat colds and treat chronic bronchitis with cough and asthma symptoms.

[Dosage and Administration] For internal use, decoct or soak in boiling water and drink, 6–15 g.
