[Modern Research]
1. Chemical constituents: The seeds of Euryale contain starch, protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, niacin, trace amounts of carotene, and inorganic salts such as calcium, phosphorus, and iron.
2. Clinical reports: (1) Proteinuria: Take 30 g of Euryale seed, 10 Ginkgo seeds, and 30 g of glutinous rice to cook porridge, once daily for 10 days as one course; repeat 2–4 courses with intervals. In 73 cases of chronic glomerulonephritis with proteinuria, the total effective rate reached 89.1%. [Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1985, (9):47] (2) Pediatric chronic diarrhea: Use 200 g each of Euryale seed and Chinese yam, and 60 g of chicken gizzard lining, all ground into fine powder. For infants 6 months old, 10 g per dose; for those older than 6 months, 20 g per dose; add appropriate water, cook over low heat until thickened into a paste and take orally three times daily. Externally, apply heated ginger and scallion powder wrapped in cloth to the navel, fixed with adhesive tape, changed once daily.
